MODEL CONSTITUTION FOR A STATUTORY COUNCIL

The Labour Relations Act provides for the establishment and registration of statutory councils. The Department of Labour drafted a model constitution of a statutory council to assist parties that would be contemplating establishing these councils. The model constitution provides guidelines on the appointment of representatives to the council, council meetings, council finances, and the resolution of disputes by the council. In terms of the LRA the Minister of Labour consulted Nedlac about the model constitution in August 1996.
