NEDLAC ANNUAL SUMMIT

16 September 2003

Nedlac's 8th Annual Summit will take place on Saturday 27th September 2003, at the Sandton Convention Centre. It will be chaired by the Deputy President, Jacob Zuma. Three hundred delegates from the Nedlac constituencies of Business, Government, Labour and Community, as well as guests from a wide spectrum of South African society, will attend. Guests include ambassadors, International Labour Organisation representatives, heads of other statutory bodies and Chairpersons of Parliamentary portfolio committees.

Senior leaders from each of the Nedlac constituencies will address the gathering, after which the former Executive Director of Nedlac, Phillip Dexter, will give an overview of the work of Nedlac for the past year, and the newly appointed Executive Director, Herbert Mkhize, will be introduced to constituencies.

There will be four commissions, based on the themes from the Growth and Development Summit. The commissions will hear report-backs from constituencies as to the progress that they have made in implementing various aspects of the agreements. The themes are:

  • Addressing the Investment Challenge
  • Advancing equity, developing skills, creating economic opportunities for all and extending services
