UPDATE ON DRAFT LABOUR RELATIONS BILL
NEGOTIATIONS
17 May 2001
The negotiating committee established by Nedlac's Labour Market
Chamber met for the second time on Friday and Saturday, 12 and 13
May, to finalise the clarification of constituencies' positions on
the draft labour relations bill.
This process was completed, and the committee resolved to meet
again today, 17 May, and tomorrow, 18 May. During this session, the
following will be discussed:
- Industrial action.
- Workplace forums.
- Individual dismissals.
The process of tabling and clarifying submissions is now over.
From today, all the committee's meetings will be aimed at
negotiating in order to reach agreements.
The committee has decided to in future meet for approximately
two days per week in order to reach consensus on the bill by the
July deadline set by the Labour Market Chamber.
