NEDLAC SUMMIT 2001 RESOLUTION
The Nedlac constituencies: government, business, labour and the
community …
noting:
-
The importance of the theme of this the 2001 Annual Summit of
Nedlac, namely engaging globalisation through social dialogue;
-
The steady progress made towards achieving a climate in which
the issues of national priority identified in the Declaration of
the 2000 Annual Summit may be addressed;
-
The new challenges brought about by the aftermath of the tragic
events of 11 September 2001, and the growing challenges of global
poverty and underdevelopment; and
-
The challenge of working to make the New Partnership for
Africa's Development a success,
re-affirm their commitment to the letter, spirit and objectives
of the Declaration of the 2000 Annual Summit, and resolve to focus
their attention and efforts in the year ahead to:

Give effect to the goals of the 2000 Nedlac Declaration;

Develop a coherent national consensus on a broad strategy to
position our country favourably in the global economy as a leading
emerging market;

Achieve key strategic agreements on industrial policy and
strategy, improving productivity, speeding up the delivery of basic
services and investment for job creation;
-
Engage in a continuous effort to develop a social consensus on
macro-economic policy and the restructuring of the public sector,
and
-
Express our confidence in the ability of our social partnership
to deal with the challenges and exciting opportunities ahead of
us.
