NEDLAC RESEARCH
Under the auspices of the Fund for Research into Industrial
Development, Growth and Equity (Fridge), Nedlac is currently busy
with 13 different research projects. Two studies were recently
completed, and are now being analysed for policy recommendations;
three studies are in progress; two in tender process, four
finalising terms of reference, and two under consideration by the
Fridge Sub-Committee.

- Preliminary Feasibility Study into the Manufacture of
Penicillin and Derivatives in South Africa
- The Study into the Implications of Implementing the Globally
Harmonised System of Chemical Hazard Communication and Development
of an Implementation Strategy for South Africa

- Study to Examine the Intermediate Stainless Steel Products
Industry for the Production of Blanks, Pressings and Component
Parts
- The Study to Examine the Socio-economic Impact of Measures to
Reduce Air Pollution from Combustion. The study commenced in
November 2002 and was scheduled to be completed in January
2004.
- Clean Development Mechanism Investment Strategy for South
Africa. The study commenced in September 2003 and will be completed
in March 2004. The study seeks to explore potential investment
sectors, types, partners and competitors as well as best practice
methods for administering CDM investments.
