PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN STEAMS AHEAD
23 SEPTEMBER IS PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN DAY
As part of the consumer launch of Proudly South African, 23
September has been designated Proudly South African day. The
Proudly South African logo has become more and more visible as the
campaign takes hold. Now the challenge is to get consumers to take
action when they see the logo: to buy Proudly South African
products and services. Everyone is encouraged to do something
special on 23 September to show they're Proudly South African.

ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN
A radio campaign of 33 advertisements in 11 languages is
currently being broadcast throughout South Africa. In the ads,
radio personalities explain how the campaign works, and why it's
imperative for South Africans to support the campaign, which
creates jobs and stimulates the economy through the promotion of
local goods bearing the Proudly South African logo.
A series of 13 television advertisements is also currently being
run. Celebrities such as Marc Lottering, Natalie du Toit, Ruda
Landman and Baby Jake, musicians Zola, Kholeka and Steve Hofmeyr,
rugby player Gcobani Bobo and Generations actor S'thandiwe talk
about why they support the Proudly South African campaign - because
the Proudly South African campaign leads to local jobs being
created.
TRIBUTE TO MAMODUPI MARIA RANTHO
One of the directors of the campaign, Mamodupi Maria Rantho,
passed away on 12 July in Pretoria. Ms Rantho was a committed
director of the campaign, Executive Member of the South African
Disabled People's Trust and a passionate campaigner for the rights
of people with disabilities.
"She was a dynamic and dedicated person who was willing to serve
South Africa beyond her personal interests. As much as she was
known as somebody representing people with disabilities, she served
on the Proudly SA campaign in order to advance the interests of the
unemployed people but most importantly, the interests of 52% of our
population - the women. She has definitely left a big gap in the
Proudly South African campaign," said Proudly South African
chairman, Tim Modise.
