THE YEAR AHEAD FOR NEDLAC
Nedlac's Management Committee on 6 February, the first for
2002, focused on Nedlac's work programme - issues currently on the
agenda, and new issues for the year ahead.

Phillip Dexter, Executive Director of Nedlac, writes:
It looks as though 2002 is going to be a busy year for Nedlac. For
some time now, there has been discussions within the Nedlac
constituencies about finding a way to begin to reach agreement on
key strategic issues, such as how to promote growth, investment,
create jobs and improve the quality of lives of all South Africans.

The Fourth Ministerial Conference of the World Trade
Organisation in Doha, in November last year, achieved its goal of
launching a new round of multilateral trade negotiations. The
meeting ended with the adoption of the Ministerial Declaration. The
declaration provides the mandate for negotiations on a range of
subjects and other work, including issues concerning the
implementation of the present agreements.

MEMBERSHIP MILESTONE IMMINENT

accredited its 100th member company. This membership base comprises
a wide range of companies of various types and sizes.

Daylight Saving Time ("DST") is defined as the moving
forward of clocks around the world during summer in order to
increase the amount of daylight at the end of each working
day.
