The Management Committee

The Management Committee is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all Nedlac'swork, subject to the authority of the Executive Council.

The Management Committee consists of 18 persons, namely:

• The four overall Nedlac convenors on the Executive Council. These are:

  • Business: Raymond Parsons, Business South Africa
  • Community: Lulama Nare, South African Democratic Teachers Union
  • Government: Jimmy Manyi, Director General, Department of Labour
  • Labour: Bheki Ntshalintshali, Deputy General Secretary of COSATU.
• The four convenors of the labour, business and government constituencies in the Labour Market Chamber, the Trade and Industry Chamber, and the Public Finance and Monetary Policy Chamber.
• The four convenors of community, business, labour and government in the Development Chamber. The community constituency's convenor in the Development Chamber is also its convenor on the Management Committee.
• The Management Committee meets monthly, except in those months when an Executive Council meeting takes place.

There are various sub-structures that report directly to the Management Committee. These include the Finance Committee and the Section 77 Committee. Each committee is made up of a representative of each of the four constituencies.

The HIV/AIDS task team that is currently considering the draft Framework Agreement on the Prevention and Treatment of HIV/AIDS is also a sub-structure of the Management Committee.
